It has been some time (of course) since I tended to this little venture, though 'not writing' does not mean 'not doing'. There has actually been a lot going on lately, the problem is just finding the time and motivation to sit at a stupid computer and write it all down.
The major-est thing I can think to inform of is the inter-contenental move my family has just embarked on. Our time in Deutschland has come to an end and we are in the middle of re-locating to the one place on Earth that could be considered the EXACT OPPOSITE of where we were living before: Las Vegas. So goodbye green pastures, rain, and peaceful farm living... it is time to hike up our skirts and get to sinnin'. It will be a challange to maintain the quality of life that we once enjoyed, but it will be fun writing about Homesteading in the city, and meeting new like-minded people in this new and incredibly colorful corner of the world.
This move also means that I am leaving behind my beloved companion and Corn Trade co-founder, Mrs. Kari B. She will be dearly missed, but being us, we will continue to work together and inspire eachother, and if I can ever get her to write again (ha ha) we will both still be contributing to this blog. The other gals "back home" in Germany will be dispersing soon and finding new homes in different parts of the world as well. So even if it is an end to the late-night canning and dye-making sessions (for now), this marks the beginning of all kinds of new adventures, thrift stores in un-charted (by the Corn Traders at least) cities, and new avenues of inspiration. Oh, melancholia.
I am bringing more than resolve and memories with me to this new chapter. I also come bearing SEEDS. As soon as my new (to me) home is ready to be moved into, I will be planing a varied crop of organic seeds that I have gathered and smuggled. There are green beans from the original Corn Trade community garden, Loofah seeds from one home-grown near the Mosel river, and a pod of poppy seeds that contain some of the prettiest PINK poppies one has ever seen. I also intend to have an herb garden (because the fresh herbs that Kari was supplying me with were too good to live without,) and to fill the rest of my yard with whatever I can get to grow here.
As an update, that's not so bad. As far as projects go, there is one in particular I would like to talk about, but it will have to wait... as I have not charged my camera in quite some time and need to do so before anything can be described in detail. What is coming soon is this: Braided Rug.
More after re-charge (and knowing me, it could take months :)
